Have you ever had an idea that kept coming back to you year after year, project after project, and napkin after napkin? Finally, you followed your intuition and went for it. That is how RoviMoss began—between handwritten notes, chance friendship, and a little courage.
Co-founders Betty Hsu and Cathy Lee came from opposite ends of the world but became inseparable when a mutual friend introduced them over a dinner in New York City. “I had this little idea book, where I jotted down ideas that I would like to work on. Some of them are pretty crazy,” admits Betty. In three separate entries, written years apart, were concepts for creating a handbag line. After years of working as an investment banker in New York and Silicon Valley, she finally gave in and started a successful international distribution business for contemporary handbags.
Recently named creative director of accessories for fashion giant LG Fashion, Cathy was already an industry veteran. A top graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she heads a behind-the-scenes design firm for high-profile international brands and lends her expertise as a think-tank for luxury brands. Cathy’s extensive resume includes senior positions from notable names such as Liz Claiborne, Gap, and JC de Castelbajac.
When Betty and Cathy met, they talked incessantly about how they would create the ideal brand. Out of their shared vision came RoviMoss.
RoviMoss was founded in 2012—the name stands for timelessness with refined ease. “Rovi” is of Italian origin and means blackberry, and “moss” is nature’s first lush creation. After working with all facets of fashion, both founders decided that it is their mission to democratize luxury, to offer everyone a slice of the good life. Like its name, RoviMoss is simple and sweet—more importantly, it is ready for life on the go.
Classics Reborn. Whether it’s brunch in New York, shopping in Paris or anywhere in between, RoviMoss’ minimalist and nuanced shapes reinvigorate the modern luxury landscape. Melding disciplined proportions and fluid modernity, RoviMoss reinterprets classic styles into handbags that are functional and familiar.
Seeking the perfect balance in design, Cathy draws inspiration from historical and fantastical characters. The signature hardware color, Gemma Gold, was inspired by the golden heirlooms of her childhood. It is a custom blend of gold, a hue that feels luxurious and warm at the same time. The same discipline is in every element of a RoviMoss bag—leather, handle length, pockets—all designed to strike luxury and sensibility.
